Gabriel

My Father

In the most inconceivable turn of events, I was adopted at age forty.  And, although no papers were signed, I have come to the inevitable conclusion that this man, my teacher, had been watching me for most of my life with this intent in mind.

But, his entry was subtle.  He took me as a student, and taught me in the ways of philosophy.  Of metaphysics.  And, even of basic survival.  He even taught me things  about myself.  Important things that are, to this day,  melded into my mind as golden marble of truth.

Of peace.

And, of wisdom.

As time passed, when he felt I was sufficiently prepared,  he shared matters of worldly nature.  And, later, of things beyond this world.  He showed me how to both live in this existence, and how to surpass it.  And, when I wept with streaming tears of frustration, he held my hand and spoke to me in silent whispers.

Knowing my heart.  Easing my pain.

And, when I listened to his words of comfort, and absorbed his brilliant, tender words of wisdom, I mended.

He and I travel together and lecture in public places.  When I speak, they smile and nod.

When he speaks, they weep.  But, he never speaks harshly.  My teacher is kind, and his words are so enriched with wisdom, that many who hear him are so touched by his presence, that they fall silent when they meet him.  And, when he smiles, and they hear his words of knowledge, of truth and integrity, tears begin to fall from their eyes like a soft rain, replenishing their souls.

Because, when he smiles his eyes twinkle like brilliant jewels,  and even the stars around him become dim, and sigh at his brilliance…
